FAA Clears Boeing 737 MAX Software Glitch, Paves Way for MAX 10 Certification
Boeing's 737 MAX software glitch poses no safety concern according to the US FAA. The Federal Aviation Administration announced on October 2 that a panel of experts has determined there is no issue with the software in some Boeing 737 MAX flight computers.
The decision removes a late obstacle to certification of the MAX 10, the largest variant of the 737 MAX family. The FAA said earlier this week it was delaying certification until it completed an analysis of the software issue, which could prevent pilots from accessing automated flight guidance during an unusual landing scenario.
The issue may have affected Southwest Airlines and other large airlines that use the same software on their newly certified MAX 7 airplanes.
