FAA Clears Boeing's 737-7 for Commercial Flight
Boeing has received certification from the FAA to use its new 737-7 airplane for commercial purposes. This milestone comes after nearly a decade of development and testing, with over 1,000 hours of flight time logged by Boeing's engineers.
The 737-7 is the smallest plane in the MAX lineup, accommodating between 135 and 160 passengers. Despite its smaller size, it has been designed to travel long distances, with a maximum range of 3,800 nautical miles - 700 more than the 737-10.
Boeing claims that the 737-7 cuts fuel use and CO2 emissions by 20% compared to planes it will eventually replace. The first plane is set to debut with Southwest Airlines soon, pending delivery from Boeing.
