FAA Clears Boeing's 737-7 for Delivery After Prolonged Certification Program

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has cleared Boeing's 737-7 for delivery after granting an amended type certificate to the aircraft.

The certification program, which began in 2018, included over 1,000 hours of flight and ground testing, as well as system-safety analysis and human-factors reviews.

Southwest Airlines, the launch customer, is preparing for delivery with Boeing, although no handover date has been announced.

The FAA's approval removes key regulatory barriers to delivery, but airline service will depend on final completion of customer aircraft and Southwest's acceptance process.
