FAA Clears Boeing's Delayed 737 Max 7 After Years of Delays

The Federal Aviation Administration has finally certified Boeing's new 737 Max 7 jetliner for commercial service after nearly a decade of development. This milestone comes years after the aircraft manufacturer first unveiled the plane, but its approval is also a testament to the hard work put in by Boeing engineers and test experts.

The certification was delayed due to safety concerns and technical issues stemming from two fatal crashes involving the larger Max 8 in 2018 and 2019. The FAA overhauled its certification process for Boeing aircraft following these incidents, which killed 346 people.

To secure approval, Boeing made several key changes to the design of the Max 7, including updating flight-control software, improving cockpit alerts for pilots, and redesigning the engine anti-ice system. The FAA said it would continue its oversight beyond the Max 7's certification.
