FAA Clears Boeing's Software Glitch, Paving Way for MAX 10 Certification
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that a software glitch in some Boeing 737 MAX flight computers poses no safety concern. This decision clears the way for the approval of the largest variant of the 737 MAX family, the MAX 10.
The Corrective Action Review Board met in Seattle and determined that pilots retain full control of the aircraft, even during an unusual landing scenario. The FAA had earlier delayed certification of the MAX 10 to complete an analysis of the software issue.
Airline officials believe the MAX 10 could be certified as soon as later this month. This news is a relief for airlines such as Southwest Airlines, which has ordered the MAX 10 and was affected by the delay.
