The US aviation regulator, FAA, has issued an airworthiness directive to operators of 471 Boeing Co. 737 Max jets.

The directive asks airlines to inspect a component that structurally reinforces the front-door frame on some 737 planes for cracks that could undermine the structural integrity of the aircraft.

According to Boeing, the affected area requires an inspection of the fuselage paneling, which is a critical component of the plane's structure.
