FAA Mandates Inspections for Hundreds of Boeing 737 Max Jets
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered inspections for hundreds of Boeing planes following reports of cracks in older models. The directive, which takes effect on September 10, applies to 471 aircraft under three Boeing 737 Max models: the 737-8, 737-9, and 737-8200.
No cracks have been found in these specific Max models, but the FAA is taking preventative measures due to similarities with older planes. The agency warned that if left unchecked, the issue could 'adversely affect the structural integrity of the airplane.'
Boeing has acknowledged the issue and stated it has been working with operators since 2019. The company claims it has already expanded inspections to Max jets, which is now mandated by the FAA's directive.
