FAA Panel to Probe Boeing Software Glitch as Soon as Friday
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is convening a review panel as soon as Friday to investigate a software glitch in Boeing Co.'s 737 Max aircraft.
The corrective action review board, or CARB, will examine whether the software problem poses a safety of flight issue that requires regulatory action, such as an airworthiness directive.
Boeing informed operators about the error in August, which can occur when a pilot needs to abort a landing attempt and forces the autopilot into a simpler level of automation for pitch control, increasing the crew's workload.
The FAA plans to take immediate action if a safety issue is identified, and Boeing has said it's working on a software update to address the glitch.
