Fable Reboot Spared from Microsoft Cuts Due to Its Vital Role
Microsoft's games business has been plagued by studio closures and layoffs in recent years, but one franchise seems to have dodged the axe. The Fable reboot, which has been in development for over a decade, is considered vital to the Xbox brand by many within Microsoft.
In an interview with The Guardian, Playground co-founder and Fable director Ralph Fulton stated that Fable's importance is what has protected it from closure. 'I genuinely think Fable is an important game,' he said.
Fulton believes that Fable offers a unique combination of elements that sets it apart from other games, making it vital to the Xbox brand. This view seems to be shared by Xbox executives, who may be hesitant to harm a franchise with such deep roots in the platform.
