Fabric Gets Mirroring Capability for Business Central Data
Microsoft is expanding its Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) product to include mirroring capabilities in Fabric, its cloud-based data platform. This feature will allow BC customers to mirror tables and companies using Delta Parquet format. The new functionality was announced by Kennie Pontoppidan, a Microsoft representative, who revealed plans for the release wave 2 of BC.
The mirroring capability is expected to be available in BC version 29.1, although a public preview may come first. With Fabric's OneLake data lake, users will have an endpoint for SQL querying and direct access to Power BI reports. In his presentation, Pontoppidan walked through the setup process of mirroring in Fabric's management tools.
The Business Central setup includes management and admin tools, which will be used to set up connections with Fabric. The final step is selecting the data to be synchronized, including tables and companies. Additionally, nine standard Power BI apps in Business Central are being re-created for use with Fabric, offering both single-company and multi-company versions.
