Ferreyros Hits 1,000th Caterpillar Truck Milestone in Peru

Ferreyros has delivered Peru's 1,000th Caterpillar mining truck to Compañía Minera Antamina for use at its copper-zinc operation. The Cat 798 is an ultra-class truck with a 372-ton payload that will operate in high-altitude conditions.

The additional unit affects fleet dispatch and haul road design, requiring updates to maintenance schedules and integration with existing systems. Ferreyros' long-running supply relationship with Antamina reduces interface risk for operator training and maintenance procedures.

The move signals a trend towards standardizing on ultra-class Caterpillar trucks in Peru's largest copper-zinc operations, which tends to lock in Ferreyros as a support and rebuild partner. Other mines facing similar haul profiles may follow suit, given the challenges of high-altitude engine performance.
