FIP Calls for Wider Probe into Boeing 787 Electrical Systems
The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has written to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) requesting a wider probe into the electrical systems of the Boeing 787 aircraft that crashed as AI-171 on June 12, 2025.
The FIP's letter comes after the US-based Foundation for Aviation Safety (FAS) raised concerns over alleged recurring system failures in the Air India plane. The FAS claimed records related to the crashed aircraft pointed to recurring electrical, electronic, and flight-computer anomalies.
The AAIB had previously confirmed that technical information supplied by the FAS through a UK expert was examined by its investigation team. The FIP has now widened the scrutiny to include the timing of deployment of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) on the plane.
