FIP Demands Comprehensive Probe into Boeing 787 Systems After Air India Crash
The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has called for an in-depth examination of the Boeing 787's electrical and electronic systems following the Air India AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad.
In a letter to the Director General of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, the pilots' body sought a comprehensive and independent review of the aircraft's systems and maintenance history.
The FIP has specifically requested scrutiny of the electrical generation and distribution systems, main and standby power systems, integrated modular avionics, flight-management systems, flight-control computers, data networks, batteries, sensors, and monitoring systems.
The Boeing 787 is described as a 'more-electric aircraft', with several critical systems relying heavily on electrical power.
