FIP Urges Probe into Electrical Systems on Boeing 787 Planes After Air India Crash
The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has asked the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) to investigate the electrical systems on Boeing 787 planes, following a crash that killed 260 people in June last year.
The FIP's letter dated September 18 also suggested a comprehensive evaluation of all electrical and electronically controlled systems, given concerns over their reliability.
Air India's Boeing 787-8 plane, VT-ANB, crashed soon after takeoff on June 12, killing 241 people onboard and 19 on the ground.
The US-based Foundation for Aviation Safety (FAS) had previously questioned the AAIB over why no interim safety recommendations had been issued for the B787 fleet, despite evidence of chronic system failure.
