Fire TV Stick 4K Cuts Cord with New Design
The new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K has finally bid farewell to its outdated Micro USB port and confusing 'select' name. The streaming stick now draws power directly from the TV, eliminating the need for a cord.
Amazon's revised $60 streaming device also comes with an improved remote control, which features a more ergonomic design and metallic home button. The company is selling this new remote separately for $15, set to begin shipping in October.
The Fire TV Stick 4K boasts impressive specs, including a quad-core 1.7 GHz processor and up to 8GB of internal storage. It supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity.
Amazon is simplifying its streaming lineup by retiring the 'Select' and 'Plus' names, leaving only four products: Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, and the new Fire TV Stick 4K.
