Five Points Washington Seeks $3M for Facility Upgrades
Five Points Washington has kicked off a $3 million fundraising drive to enhance its facilities, with a focus on accessibility, safety, and functionality. The campaign, titled “Reimagine the Future of Our Community,” aims to upgrade the aquatics center, performing arts center, and community spaces. The organization has already secured over $1.8 million in donations during the initial phase and is now seeking public support.
Planned improvements include upgrades to lighting, sound, rigging, and flooring systems at the Caterpillar Performing Arts Center, as well as enhancements to the aquatics and community spaces. Executive Director Vikki Poorman emphasized the campaign’s broader mission, stating, “This campaign is not simply about updating a facility, it is about investing in people.”
The facility, which opened in 2007, attracts approximately 600,000 visits annually. It houses an aquatics center, fitness center, gymnasium, senior center, meeting and banquet spaces, and the Caterpillar Performing Arts Center. The campaign coincides with Five Points Washington approaching its 20th anniversary.
