Florida Couple Accused of Orchestrating Ex-Husband's Ambush Killing
A former Microsoft manager was killed in an ambush on a Florida road after his ex-wife and her new husband concocted a targeted attack, prosecutors claim.
Jared Bridegan, 33, was shot to death in Jacksonville Beach in 2022 while driving home with one of his children from a second marriage. His 9-year-old twins were in the care of their mother, Shanna Gardner, and her husband Mario Fernandez Saldana, who is now on trial for first-degree murder and solicitation of murder.
The relationship between Bridegan and Gardner was marked by years of acrimony over how to raise their children from a previous marriage. The couple divorced in 2015 but continued to fight over issues such as religion and medical care, according to Assistant State Attorney Christina Simak Stifler.
Prosecutors say Fernandez Saldana hired a gunman, Henry Tenon, who was paid $10,000 for the hit. Tenon initially pleaded guilty to second-degree murder but later withdrew his plea and will face trial in 2027.
