Florida Demands Online Platforms Stop Sweepstakes Casino Ads

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has written to five major online platforms, including Google and Meta, demanding they stop advertising sweepstakes casinos to state residents.

The warning comes after Uthmeier's office filed lawsuits against Stake and VGW-owned Chumba Casino, LuckyLand, and Global Poker, alleging their dual-currency sweepstakes system disguises real-money gambling.

Uthmeier has given the companies until October 23 to explain how they will prevent sweepstakes casino advertising from reaching Floridians, stating that promoting illegal gambling is a crime under Florida law.
