Fortnite Connects with Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge
Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is getting an upgrade in collaboration with Fortnite. Starting Sunday, August 16, guests at Walt Disney World and Disneyland can link their Disney and Epic Games accounts to unlock a special bonus mode on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
The new experience includes a mission briefing from Hondo Ohnaka, additional secrets inside the Falcon's cockpit, and crates that crews can collect during their mission. Loot collected aboard Smugglers Run can be used to unlock rewards in Fortnite, including a new Forsworn Trooper outfit and credits that can be used to purchase and upgrade gear.
The connection also accompanies a new Star Wars Creative island in Fortnite called 'Smuggler's Gambit.' Developed by Disney's internal games team in collaboration with Lucasfilm, the experience introduces a new planet in the Star Wars galaxy where players can take on quests, participate in cooperative missions, and battle pirates, Imperial remnants, and wildlife.
This integration represents an early example of something bigger: connecting experiences inside Disney's theme parks with virtual experiences at home. Disney described it as a 'full circle physical-to-digital connection' that will eventually allow guests to see the impact of their in-park progress on future attractions.
