Four Countries Lead Global AI Adoption, Causing Hiring Headwinds
According to a report by Goldman Sachs Research, four countries, France, the US, the Netherlands, and the UK, are leading the global adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) by a significant margin of 20%. This is based on AI adoption rates among major developed economies, which range from 15-20%.
The report indicates that these countries have deployed AI faster than other nations. In contrast, major emerging markets have recorded AI adoption rates between 10% and 15%. The research found that industries with greater exposure to automation have witnessed a slowdown in job openings starting from the second half of 2022.
This trend is most pronounced in Germany, Australia, and the US. The report suggests that the onset of generative AI tools has led companies in highly exposed industries to re-evaluate their hiring plans. Employment growth slowed notably across information and communication services, call centres, software publishing, and advertising.
