FreeRDP 3.32 Boosts Security and Integration for Linux Users
The latest version of FreeRDP, a widely used open-source Remote Desktop Protocol implementation, has been released. The new version, FreeRDP 3.32.0, includes several client-side improvements and substantial security hardening.
One key feature is seamless Microsoft Entra/Azure integration for the SDL and xfreerdp clients on Linux when the required helper binaries are available.
The release also focuses on RemoteApp support, with the SDL client now having basic beta RAIL support on both X11 and Wayland. This allows individual remote Windows applications to integrate more naturally into the local desktop instead of requiring a full remote desktop session.
FreeRDP 3.32 also includes hardware-accelerated video processing improvements, with generic FFmpeg-based encoding and decoding now supported. However, this feature is still considered experimental due to common graphics driver issues.
