FSSAI Cracks Down on Big Food Brands Over Misleading Ads

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued over 150 notices to various food companies, including major brands such as Nestle, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Red Bull, for misleading advertisements, false claims, and non-compliance with labelling regulations.

The FSSAI shared an update on its social media platform stating that it had taken action against numerous food business operators (FBOs) for serious violations of its laws and regulations.

According to the regulator, the notices were issued in recent months and included companies such as Abbott India Ltd, Danone India, Monster Energy India Pvt Ltd, Hell Energy Pvt Ltd, Mondelez India, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Ferrero India, and Kenvue Inc.

The FSSAI also mentioned that it had taken action against e-commerce companies Amazon and Flipkart, issuing 12 notices to them and cancelling one Amazon warehouse license.
