FTAI Aviation Expands Fleet with 27 Boeing 737-700 Aircraft Acquisition
FTAI Aviation has significantly expanded its fleet with the acquisition of 27 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from WestJet. The transaction consists of two components, with FTAI's 2026 SPV acquiring 17 on-lease aircraft through a sale-leaseback arrangement and separately buying 10 off-lease planes for its Aerospace Products business.
The 2026 SPV was established to acquire mid-life aircraft, following the success of FTAI's previous investment vehicle, the 2025 SPV, which raised $2.0 billion in equity commitments and has committed approximately $6.0 billion of total capital across more than 300 aircraft.
David Moreno, President at FTAI, expressed satisfaction with expanding their relationship with WestJet through this transaction, highlighting how the company's Strategic Capital and Aerospace Products businesses work together to provide comprehensive fleet solutions for airlines.
