Functional Beverages Take Center Stage in the Beverage Aisle
Functional beverages have become increasingly popular in recent years as consumers seek out products that provide specific health benefits. This trend is evident in various industries, including the beverage aisle. Manufacturers are incorporating functional ingredients into their products to meet growing demand for items like focus, energy, protein, and gut health.
The Coca-Cola Co.'s BodyArmor portfolio has expanded with a line of carbonated beverages called BodyArmor Fit. These drinks contain 290 mg of electrolytes, 60 mg of caffeine, choline, and green tea extract. Lotza, another company, has introduced a soda line formulated with electrolytes, adaptogens, antioxidants, and fruit.
Maola Local Dairies has unveiled a collection of ultrafiltered milks called Maola More, which contains prebiotic fibers, 15 grams of protein, and between 5 to 8 grams of sugar per serving. Tropicana Brands Group has launched Tropicana Hydrate, a juice beverage featuring a combination of electrolytes and fruit juice.
Other notable releases include Nestle's Vital Proteins collagen carbonated water, Spindrift's tea line, and PepsiCo's Pure Leaf Mental Focus sparkling functional tea. BellRing Brands' Premier Protein Ultimate ready-to-drink shakes contain 42 grams of protein per serving, while GoodBelly has introduced its Protein + Probiotics smoothies with 11 grams of plant-based protein and probiotics.
