Galanz Americas Recalls Over 121,000 Retro Refrigerators Amid Fire Risks

Galanz Americas has issued a recall for approximately 121,680 retro-style refrigerators sold nationwide at Home Depot and online through Amazon. The units were produced between December 2018 and December 2020 and feature a range of model numbers including BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, and more.

The recall was prompted by internal electrical failures that cause the components to short circuit, creating an ignition source inside the unit. In total, there have been 34 reported incidents of fires involving the recalled appliances, with at least one resulting in a fatality.

Consumers are urged to unplug the recalled refrigerators immediately and discontinue use. Galanz Americas is offering a free in-home repair performed by a qualified technician.
