Galanz Retro Fridge Recall Issued After Fires and Death
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall for over 120,000 Galanz-branded retro-style refrigerators due to reports of fires and one death.
The recalled fridges were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com in four colors for between $330 to $520.
The CPSC warns that the internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite, posing a serious risk of injury or death from fire and burn hazards.
There have been 34 reports of fires linked to the refrigerators, including one fatality. The recall specifically applies to fridges with date codes between December 2018 and December 2020, with model numbers BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, and GLR76TWEER.
