Garmin Challenges Mobile Navigators with Ultrawide GPS Lineup

Garmin has launched an updated line of GPS navigators that rival popular mobile navigation apps like Google Maps and Waze. The new devices, part of the Garmin Drive lineup, come with features such as real-time traffic data, traffic lights and stop signs highlighted on the map, and alerts for sharp curves, speed changes, and school zones.

The ultrawide models boast 7.1- and 8.8-inch displays, offering increased screen estate for a more comprehensive navigation interface. These devices also feature real-time weather conditions and live traffic data, but require a connected smartphone running the Garmin Drive app to access these features.

The GPS navigators come with pre-loaded detailed street maps of North America, and users can download necessary maps for Europe or Asia without additional cost. The devices also support backup cameras and offer comprehensive feature packages, including voice navigation, voice commands, speed limits, traffic lights, and stop signs.
