Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini expressed disappointment after his team's 3-0 friendly defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

The Giallorossi were beaten at the American Express Stadium, despite fielding a relatively strong team featuring Paulo Dybala and Donyell Malen.

Brighton took control of the match, with Georginio Rutter scoring first before Yasin Ayari netted either side of half-time to seal a 3-0 win for the Premier League opponents.

Gasperini acknowledged that Roma were 'a long way behind schedule' after their dismal performance. The team had a mere 40% possession share and failed to register any shots on target, while Brighton hit six of their 12 attempts on goal with an expected goals (xG) advantage of 1.3-0.69.

Gasperini attributed the defeat to a disjointed display from his team, stating that they 'just weren't working together as a squad' and lacked concentration. He also acknowledged that some players were still recovering from the World Cup, but emphasized the need for patience and further reinforcements during the transfer window.
