Gates' $2.27 Billion Gain Outpaces Burry's Short on Caterpillar
Bill Gates's investment in Caterpillar has generated a significant gain of $2.27 billion, outperforming Michael Burry's short position against the company.
The Gates Foundation Trust held approximately 6.35 million Caterpillar shares as of June 30, valued at $6.77 billion compared to $4.50 billion in March.
Caterpillar has returned over 100% in the past year and is one of Gates's top holdings, accounting for 19.65% of his portfolio.
The company's strong performance can be attributed to its position as a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, with sales and revenues increasing by 24% year-over-year in Q2 2026.
