Gates Confronts Congressional Panel on Epstein Ties
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates testified before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, addressing his relationship with late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Gates acknowledged that meeting with Epstein was a 'grave error in judgment' and stated he had never victimized anyone.
Gates told lawmakers that when he first engaged with Epstein, he was aware of the financier's criminal conviction for sex-related crimes but didn't fully understand the extent of his crimes. He claimed to have met with Epstein on three occasions in 2011 and two in 2012, discussing philanthropic endeavors.
Gates also acknowledged having extramarital affairs that were later discovered by Epstein through a former science advisor. However, he denied any claims of wrongdoing or coercion from Epstein. Gates emphasized his focus remained on using Epstein to recruit donors for his global health initiative.
Committee Chairman James Comer expressed interest in hearing from other individuals involved with Epstein, including attorney Alan Dershowitz and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
