Gaza Strip Devastation Revealed in Google Maps Update
The Gaza Strip has been ravaged by conflict, with new satellite imagery from Google Maps revealing widespread destruction. The latest update shows entire neighborhoods flattened, dirt tracks cutting through residential areas, and zones reduced to rubble. This is a stark contrast to the previous imagery available for Tel al-Sultan, which showed most of its buildings still intact in May 2024.
Gaza City, the capital, has suffered significantly, with 83% of its buildings damaged by Israeli operations as of October 2025, according to UNOSAT. The city's central buildings, such as those near Omar Mukhtar Street and the Palestine Stadium, have vanished, replaced by tents in the ruins.
The Al-Shifa Hospital, once Gaza's largest medical center, endured two sieges and bombardments, resulting in hundreds of deaths and significant damage to the hospital. The Rimal neighborhood, considered Gaza's most prosperous area, now lies in ruins, with several Palestinian government offices located there.
