Gaza's Devastation Exposed: Google Maps Reveals War-Torn Landscape
A recent update to Google Maps has laid bare the scale of devastation in Gaza, where entire neighborhoods have disappeared and nearly every available open area is packed with tents and makeshift shelters.
The satellite imagery, taken in June 2026, shows extensive destruction across Gaza's coastline, with rows of tents and temporary shelters occupying areas once dominated by homes, businesses, and public infrastructure.
In northern towns including Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun, Rafah and southern Gaza have been reduced to vast fields of rubble, while major neighborhoods in Gaza City such as Jabaliya and Shuja'iya appear heavily devastated and uninhabitable.
The scale of displacement remains enormous, with over 2.1 million displaced people living in tents and temporary shelters across Gaza, according to the UNRWA agency for Palestinian refugees.
