GE Aerospace GE9X Fix Won't Delay Boeing 777X Entry

GE Aerospace has provided an update on its GE9X engine fix for Boeing's 777X aircraft. The company stated that the redesigned component, addressing a durability issue with the engine's mid-seal, is not expected to push back the planned entry into service of the 777X next year.

The problem was identified in February and the company has since developed an updated version of the seal, which has been incorporated into current engine production. Engines equipped with the revised seal began shipping to Boeing during the third quarter, while certification from the Federal Aviation Administration is anticipated within the next few months.

GE Aerospace said it remains confident in the program schedule and that internal testing has supported confidence in the redesigned part.
