Gemini 3.8 Live Brings Interactive Avatars to Google's Conversational AI
Google has introduced Gemini 3.8 Live, a conversational AI feature that enables video avatars with synchronized lip movements across various applications.
The new feature is now available through Gemini Enterprise after being previewed at Google Cloud Next 2026.
Gemini 3.8 Live provides native speech-to-speech capabilities, allowing for more natural dialogue and recovery from interruptions while maintaining conversation context and ongoing backend transactions.
The model can execute tools and API calls in the background while continuing to interact with users, acknowledging requests and maintaining the conversation during task completion.
Gemini 3.8 Live supports 97 languages, automatically detects the language being used, and has live visual understanding capabilities to process camera feeds and screen sharing alongside audio.
