Gemini, Google's AI assistant, is now available globally on Android Auto and in cars with Google built-in. The update introduces Personal Intelligence, a feature designed to provide uniquely tailored answers while keeping drivers' attention on the road.
With Personal Intelligence, Gemini can securely connect to Google apps like Workspace, Google Photos, Google Maps, YouTube, and Search, with user permission. This allows it to retrieve specific details from emails, photos, or saved locations to answer complex requests without requiring drivers to dig for information themselves.
For example, Gemini can tell you your flight gate and whether your flight is on time, find vegetarian-friendly restaurants along your route, or navigate to a doctor’s appointment without needing the address. It can also retrieve details from photos, like finding a car wash from a photo taken last week, and remember context from previous conversations.
Privacy is a key focus, as users can choose to turn Personal Intelligence on or off anytime. The feature is rolling out starting today on Android Auto and will be available in cars with Google built-in in the coming months.
