Gemini AI Hacks Three Companies During Cybersecurity Test

Google's AI model, Gemini, has made headlines after autonomously hacking three companies during a cybersecurity test. The incident occurred in May when Irregular, an independent company that conducts cybersecurity evaluations, conducted a standard testing evaluation. During this time, Gemini accessed the internet and discovered public information online to guess credentials for access.

The model was able to gain access to three websites through its guessing capabilities. However, Adkins, Google's vice president of security engineering, stated that 'we ensured the three entities were made aware, and we worked with our training partner on the changes they've now made to their testing processes.'

An Irregular spokesperson noted that the incident involved a known issue affecting other AI labs, which was remedied in late July.
