Gemini and Google Team Up for AI-Powered Financial Insights

Google has expanded its partnership with Gemini to integrate with Google Wallet, allowing users in the US aged 18 and above to connect their financial accounts through Plaid. This integration enables Gemini's AI assistant to access information stored in Google Wallet, such as boarding passes, event tickets, loyalty cards, rewards, and other saved items.

With this connection, users can ask Gemini to pull up specific information without having to open the Google Wallet app. For example, they can request their airline loyalty number or view available offers from connected rewards cards.

If financial accounts are linked through Plaid, Gemini's analysis capabilities expand further. The AI assistant can summarize spending, provide budget suggestions, and answer questions about transactions. This includes breaking down monthly expenses into categories such as groceries or entertainment.

However, there are restrictions on this integration. It is currently limited to users in the US who have a personal Google account with Gemini Apps Activity turned on. Importantly, Gemini does not have control over financial accounts and cannot make purchases using connected payment methods.
