Gemini Expands to Google Wallet with Voice-Commanded Spending and Tickets
Google's AI assistant Gemini has gained read-only access to Google Wallet, allowing users to manage tickets, track expenses, and view rewards through voice commands. The integration, which launched on September 29, 2026, in the U.S., enables Gemini to search for boarding passes, event tickets, and loyalty cards, as well as analyze spending across linked bank accounts via Plaid. Users can ask Gemini questions like, "How much did I spend on groceries last month?" or "Find my boarding pass to Chicago," and the AI will provide summaries and suggestions.
However, Google has intentionally limited Gemini's capabilities to prevent financial transactions or account modifications. The AI cannot initiate payments, create, modify, or delete accounts, ensuring a secure read-only experience. This feature is currently available only to U.S. users aged 18 and older with Gemini Apps Activity enabled, and no release date has been set for Germany or other markets.
The rollout has raised privacy concerns, as enabling Gemini Apps Activity allows Google to analyze chat histories for product improvements. While access to Wallet data is optional and can be revoked, some users may feel uneasy about an AI reviewing their financial transactions. For now, the feature remains optional, and those comfortable with the setup can explore its capabilities in the U.S.
