Gemini Gems Shut Down: Google Migrates Custom Content to Skills

Google has officially announced it's ending support for Gemini Gems in favor of Skills. The move is set to start on November 17, when users will begin seeing a banner notification within the Gemini app.

The banner also states that Google will 'migrate your Gems to Skills,' allowing users to continue using their customized content once it's been converted. However, there's some confusion regarding access to Skills for free account holders.

Currently, Skills are only available to users with a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription and access to Gemini Spark. If Google plans to give free users access to Skills as well, the 'Learn More' button in the banner currently leads to a non-existent Google Support page that should provide more information.
