Gemini Notebook Pages Flood Google Search with Spam Content
Google has indexed over 12,000 pages from Gemini Notebook, a public NotebookLM, which are being used by spammers to spread various types of content. These pages include information on sex toys, porn, peptides, coupon codes, and apps.
The issue was first spotted by Charles Floate, who posted on X that he had 'hacked' the AI overview using Google itself.
Glenn Gabe reshared the finding and noted that these public notebooks are being spammed, with content ranging from peptides to discount codes to porn to apps. He added that he thinks they will disappear soon but expressed sadness at how this happens often when Google launches new products.
Gagan Ghotra wrote on X that 'black hat SEOs are leveraging public NotebookLMs being indexable by Google as a new parasite SEO tactic.'
