Gemini on Google Home Speakers: A Frustrating Experience
Android Police Senior Features Editor Rita recently joined the Google Home Public Preview program to test Gemini on her smart speakers. She was initially optimistic that it would be an improvement over Google Assistant, but her experience has been marred by frustrating issues.
Rita lives in a three-story home with multiple Google smart speakers and displays, all connected to a fast 1Gbps Wi-Fi network. Despite this, she's encountered numerous problems, including multiple speakers listening at the same time, ignoring commands, and slow processing times.
She reports that every promise Google has made to fix these issues has not fixed them. For example, the company said Gemini would understand her better, but it seems to be getting slower and dumber instead. Rita's husband also experiences similar issues with his Nest Audio.
