Gemini Overlay Upgrades: Google Tunes AI Assistant's User Interface
Google's Gemini assistant is getting some significant upgrades to its overlay feature. In version 17.62.9 of the Google app, users can now switch between a standard conversation and a Spark-related action directly within the overlay. This evolution marks a change from earlier development, where the Task option was hidden behind the plus menu.
The updated overlay also includes dedicated buttons for viewing recent Gemini conversations and accessing Proactive Assistance. Although tapping the Proactive Assistance button doesn't do anything yet, the bell icon instantly pulls up recent chats with Gemini.
In addition to these changes, Google has added a Browser page within Gemini settings, allowing users to manage how Gemini Spark works in the background. Users can choose between using Chrome on their device or switching to a remote browser when needed.
