The Microsoft 365 Education plan is available to students and educators with a valid school email address. The plan offers access to the productivity suite for free, but users must have an institute-provided email address to be eligible. There are three plans: A1, A3, and A5, with the A1 plan being web-only and the A3 plan supporting downloads.
For those without a valid school email address or who want more flexibility, Microsoft 365 can also be accessed for free through its online portal or mobile apps. The online version offers access to basic versions of its apps, along with 5GB of free cloud storage. Mobile apps are available for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, offering limited functionality but some offline capabilities.
For a full, unrestricted experience, Microsoft offers a 30-day free trial. This trial gives users complete access to the service, including full offline capabilities and the ability to download desktop apps to their PC or Mac. The trial also includes 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage.
