Ghana Pursues Boeing Partnership for Revived National Airline
Ghana is exploring a long-term partnership with Boeing to revive its national airline and develop its aviation sector. The country aims to build a competitive aviation ecosystem, including strengthening infrastructure, technical capabilities, human capital, and investment opportunities.
The high-level discussions between President John Dramani Mahama and senior Boeing executives took place on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. Mahama emphasized that Ghana's interest extends beyond aircraft procurement, seeking a strategic partnership to support the revival of its national carrier.
The proposed cooperation could provide fleet development and technical support for the national airline, as well as establish a regional Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hub in Ghana. This facility would offer maintenance and related services to airlines in West Africa and other African markets, reducing reliance on overseas facilities.
