GitHub Brings Copilot AI to Microsoft Teams
GitHub has introduced a new feature that integrates its Copilot AI tool with Microsoft Teams. This integration allows users to turn discussions in Teams into collaborative agent sessions, where everyone can contribute and help direct the work.
To start a session, users simply mention @GitHub in a channel, thread, or direct message. Anyone in the conversation can ask questions, add context, and help plan or steer the work.
When a meeting produces an action item, users can hand it to Copilot during a discussion or before it ends. Copilot creates a dedicated code channel where everyone can monitor progress and add context.
The public preview of this feature is available with paid GitHub Copilot plans, which consume AI credits. Organizations can control cloud agent AI credit usage through usage-based billing budgets. Cloud sandbox usage is billed separately and can be controlled with a product-level or SKU-level budget.
