Global Data Breach Costs Soar to Record High Amid Rising AI-Driven Threats

The global average cost of a data breach has reached a record USD 4.99 million, according to IBM's 2026 report.

This is a 12% increase from the previous year, with one in four malicious breaches involving AI.

Ai detects threats by learning normal behavior and can lower breach costs by about USD 1.93 million at organizations that use it extensively.

However, 21% of breached organizations reported an incident involving an AI model or application, and 92% lacked proper AI access controls.
