Global Network Outage Events Surge 22% Amid Rising ISP Disruptions
A recent report from ThousandEyes, a Cisco company, reveals that global network outage events have increased by 22% compared to the previous week. From August 24 through August 30, there were 649 reported outages across ISPs, cloud service provider networks, collaboration app networks, and edge networks.
In the US, ISP outages rose by 37%, with a total of 465 outages during the same period. Public cloud network outages decreased by 3% globally but remained unchanged in the US.
Two notable outages were reported: Cox Communications experienced an outage that lasted for 14 minutes on August 25, affecting multiple regions including the US and Mexico. Astute Internet had a nine-minute outage on August 26, impacting downstream providers and customers across the US and Canada.
