GM Brings Cars Characters to Life with Custom-Wrapped Vehicles at D23 Event
The animated movie Cars celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and General Motors (GM) marked the occasion by transforming two of its vehicles into life-size characters from the film. At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, GM featured a 2026 Chevy Colorado wrapped as Ramone, a low-riding 1959 Chevy Impala in his original form, and a 2027 Chevy Bolt wrapped as Flo, inspired in part by the 1951 Buick XP-300.
The collaboration between GM and Disney dates back to 1982's World of Motion attraction at EPCOT. Today, GM is the Official Vehicle Sponsor of Walt Disney World Resort and the Presenting Sponsor of the Test Track attraction. The two companies worked together to create a unique and eye-catching display that showcased their shared values and commitment to innovation.
The installation process was a complex one, requiring precision and attention to detail to ensure that the wraps did not obscure the design of the vehicles. GM focused on striking the right balance between character presence and product visibility, while still showcasing its design and sheet metal.
