Goldman Sachs is considering a role in Nvidia's $500 billion AI financing initiative. According to Reuters, Goldman can supply junior capital and private credit, helping place debt into private and public markets. The asset managers plan to retain a significant share of the financing.

The relationship between Goldman and Nvidia has been developing for years, with both firms' CEOs having met at a technology conference hosted by Goldman less than two years ago. When asked about the initiative in a CNBC interview, Goldman CEO David Solomon stated that Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang approached him with the idea and they welcomed the opportunity to discuss it.

Not everyone is convinced of the viability of this financing structure. Hedge fund manager Michael Burry called it a 'Wall Street stunt', warning that the private-credit structure recalls past cycles, as he put it, 'Meet the new Boss. Same as the old Boss.'
