Goldman Sachs Backs UK Lender with £500M Facility
Quantum Development Finance has secured up to £500 million in new lending capital from Goldman Sachs, which led the facility alongside AB CarVal. The long-term commitment could see Goldman's total exposure to Quantum reach as much as £700 million.
The loan is a significant boost for the specialist lender, which provides development and bridging finance to SME housebuilders and property investors across England and Wales. Since its founding in 2023, Quantum has financed roughly 4,000 homes and passed £1 billion of cumulative funding over the summer.
Quantum's co-founder and chief executive, Oliver Thompson, said Goldman's approval 'is a positive signal for the Quantum team.' The facility will let Quantum write larger loans as it grows, offering typical facilities between £1 million and £30 million.
